Due to high demand, the Central Coast Economic Forecast (CCEF) has made a recording of its 2021 Annual Event available for purchase. The event featured a San Luis Obispo County forecast presented by Dr. Taner Osman and California and National forecast presented by Dr. Chris Thornberg, both of Beacon Economics. Keynote speaker Dr. Paul Stoltz of Peak Learning shared some teachings on the power of resiliency through his presentation Harnessing Adversity: The Three Secret Drivers of Exceptional Economic and Community Well Being. Both presentation decks from Beacon Economics are included in the purchase price.
Dr. Osman shared key trends affecting business from labor shortages to work-from-home statistics, along with deep dives into issues relevant to the San Luis Obispo market including tourism and hospitality, local construction activity and housing costs.
In the state and national forecast, Dr. Thornberg examined top-of-mind issues including the national economy’s V-shaped recovery and long-term labor supply shortages. Also discussed were policy considerations including local development to attract workforce, immigration policy and differentiating the needs of California’s various micro-economies.

We are excited to welcome guests back in person to the 2021 Central Coast Economic Forecast (Annual Event) held at the Madonna Expo Center. The well-being of our guests, staff, and volunteers continues to be our top priority. In response, the CCEF has enacted heightened sanitation, health, and safety protocols for the 2021 Annual Event. These pre-cautionary measures and policies are in alignment with CDC, State, and County of SLO public health orders, ordinances, and guidance for events of this size.
The CCEF has voluntarily limited the number of people that can attend the 2021 Annual Event which has reduced the overall capacity by more than 30% (compared to our 2019 Annual Event).
As part of the on-line registration process for 2021 Annual Event, all guests were asked to disclose their vaccination status via a self-attestation form. For guests that are not vaccinated or declined to disclose their status, you are required to show proof of having received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the start time of the CCEF Annual Event (dated between 11/02/21 and 11/05/21). Both PCR and antigen are acceptable.
Face coverings are required to be worn by all guests and staff members at all times while indoors at Central Coast Economic Forecast, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Guests must bring their own face coverings. Face coverings must conform to CDC guidelines.
For the safety of all in attendance, physical distance is recommended. We have reduced the number of guests seated at each table from 10 to 6. We have also increased the distance between each table. Please be respectful of other guests and their space.
Consistent with the County of SLO recommendations to separate “eating” and “mingling” areas, the CCEF will not be serving a breakfast buffet during the networking hour (7:30-8:30am) but will provide guests with a plated breakfast served at the table once the program begins at 8:30am.
The CCEF will not have a formal registration area this year. Instead, seating assignments will be emailed to all guests a few days prior to the event. Event signage will be placed throughout the Expo Center with table numbers and seating assignments. Name tags will be placed at each seat. We will have a few “floating” volunteers to assist guests as needed. The event program can be downloaded using a QR code at the Annual Event.
During the networking hour (7:30-8:30am), the doors to the Madonna Expo Center will be propped open. During the program, the Madonna Expo Center will also run its ventilation system that is equipped with two large exhaust fans for increased air quality and circulation.
The frequent washing and sanitization of your hands can help to keep you healthy and reduce the spread of germs. Several hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the Expo Center.
All high-touch surfaces and heavily trafficked areas within the Madonna Expo Center will be cleaned and disinfected at an increased frequency throughout event. Prior to the event, all spaces and seating areas will go through a rigorous disinfection process.
The health and safety of our guests is our top priority. We have taken enhanced health and safety measures to protect you. However, an inherent risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19 exists in any public place where people gather. You must follow all venue policies, including health and safety policies, and posted instructions while in the Madonna Expo Center and on the grounds.
Do not enter the 2021 Central Coast Economic Forecast Annual Event if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or are subject to a mandatory quarantine pursuant to local, State, or Federal health authorities.
